Tian Li and the children return to the Tibetan village, warmly welcomed by the old Tibetan woman and the villagers who want to organize a celebration in their honor. Ambrosius is already there, surprised to see Tian Li alive, and the latter is suspicious of the alchemist.
On the heights, Mendoza, Sancho and Pedro wait for nightfall to talk to Esteban. When evening comes, the party is in full swing around a large fire. Mendoza discreetly calls Esteban while Sancho and Pedro, attracted by the food, are quickly unmasked by the villagers. Unable to keep a secret, they reveal to Zia and Tao that Mendoza is with Esteban and that his father is alive. On his side, Mendoza finally confesses to Esteban that his father Athanaos is alive and that he gave him the medallion hearts and asked him to steal the pyramid of Mu.
Ambrosius, who heard everything in secret, heads towards his ship. He is followed by Tian Li. The alchemist then puts on his exoskeleton to transform into Zares and a fight ensues between the two men, but Zares quickly wins and throws Tian Li outside, unconscious.
Near the village, Zia, Tao, Sancho and Pedro go to find Esteban and Mendoza and they all walk towards a nearby lake to meet Athanaos. Suddenly, the Olmec flying machine appears, piloted by Esteban's father who repaired it after the destruction of the first City of Gold. The reunion between Esteban and Athanaos is emotional, although Esteban cannot approach his father, who is contaminated by the Great Legacy. Athanaos wishes his son to continue his quest on his own without interfering, while he waits to be healed.
Suddenly, Zares appears, gets rid of Mendoza and enters the Olmec machine with Athanaos on board. He threatens our heroes and orders them to search for the 3^rd City of Gold, or Athanaos will die. As the Olmec machine flies away, all our friends promise to help and support Esteban.
The next morning, it is time to leave for Japan and the 3^rd City of Gold. Our heroes board the Great Condor, followed by Ambrosius and his ship, aboard which Athanaos is prisoner. In the distance, Tian Li witnesses their departure, without having been able to reveal Zares's true identity.
