Episode 12: In the Forbidden City

The Mysterious Cities of Gold - Season 2 - Episode 12

Hang, a servant of Dan Shi, flees with the yellow dragon to the imperial palace. The three children pursue him, but they can't get in. Only Esteban manages to enter by hiding in a cart. Tao and Zia return to the Temple of Rebirth. Yu Chunhe warns them that Esteban's life is in danger as he entered the Forbidden City. He goes to his rescue and eventually finds him in the apartments of Prince Zhu, of whom he is the tutor. He hides him, waiting for an opportunity to get him out at nightfall.
Meanwhile, Hang gives the yellow dragon to his master Dan Shi and receives gems in exchange.
When night falls, Yu Chunhe goes to get Esteban, disguised under a hat and a cape. But upon returning to the Temple of Rebirth, they realize that it is actually Prince Zhu, who is arrogant. Master Yu returns to the temple and finds Esteban locked in a chest by the prince. He cannot leave for the moment and Esteban must impersonate the prince during a performance given in honor of his father's birthday. His performance goes badly but causes the emperor to laugh. He must then spend another night in the palace.
Meanwhile, Tao and Ambrosius decide to prepare smoke bombs in case they need to help Esteban escape from the palace. As they approach the ship, they see Zares who is already there.
At the temple, the prince confides in Zia about his loneliness in the palace, condemned to live in hiding; but he takes advantage of her weakness to escape and she follows him. In the streets of Beijing, Prince Zhu is obviously not recognized, but he misbehaves and his insolence puts him in danger.
