Episode 19: The oasis

The Mysterious Cities of Gold - Season 2 - Episode 19

Everyone has gathered in Ambrosius' nave. On the deck, Li Shuang reveals to Esteban that he is Atlantean and that his father Athanaos believes this is why he was chosen. Tao, a descendant of the Mu Empire which waged war against the Atlanteans, overhears their conversation but keeps it to himself.
Below, Ambrosius finally shows them the secrets of his pyramid of Mu: it contains an animated encyclopedia, containing plans, texts and maps. Li Shuang particularly notices the symbol of the fresco of the all-seeing eyes, which, according to him, is located in the Mingsha oasis. He has already been there with Athanaos without finding anything and indicates its location. His duties require him to stay at the Great Wall of China: our friends therefore take him back to the Buddha's Belly.
Aboard the Great Condor, the three children and the sailors head towards the oasis and eventually discover it. It is watered by a crescent-shaped lake. They enter the oasis at nightfall, where there are many merchants and their camels.
During the night, the children go to the lake to swim. Esteban and Tao are bickering when a camel comes to drink. Tao's cries scare the camel away, with Esteban on its back. Tao and Zia follow him into the desert when a sandstorm rises. Tao lets his anger explode, knowing that Esteban is an Atlantean and that he can no longer trust him, nor be his friend.
Meanwhile, under a tent in the oasis, Zares gives the order to eliminate Mendoza, Sancho and Pedro.
