Episode 6: The Return of Zares

The Mysterious Cities of Gold - Season 3 - Episode 6

Even though Gaspard seeks revenge against Mendoza, he can't kill him and risk Shimazu's anger, for he needs the sailor. Ambrosius will have to take care of it: he drugs Gaspard to sleep with wine. Zares can now appear and head to the castle room where the three sailors are held.
Hidden outside, Zares hears Mendoza speak to Ichiro and give him Ambrosius's compass, so he hands it over to the kids. Mendoza also writes a message telling them to not trust Ambrosius.
Leaving the castle, Ichiro meets with Esteban who's secretly followed him to try and save Mendoza. But the children are chased through town and into the forest by Zares; Ichiro barely gives Esteban the compass and message before Zares gets rid of him, and threatens Esteban to kill his father if he doesn't give the compass back. Desperate and scared, Esteban gives in. Zares heads back to the ship, surprised by the arrival of Zia, Tao and Mariko, looking for Esteban.
At the palace, after Ambrosius flies the now-fixed ship, the three sailors manage to escape and jump on the balloon to secretly get aboard. Shimazu, having lost all his prisoners, is in a rage.
At Yoshi's, as the five children rest, Zia notices that the emblem of the Shimazu clan resembles that of the mirror-shield.
