The terrifying crossing of the Magellan's strait begins.
Sancho and Pedro, even they have to maintain the helm, are afraid.
During that, the crew attaches the sails
, Gaspard is not a good sailor
. There are gigantesque waves.
Mendoza is now on the helm
during Sancho has a close lock on the sea
. The second day, a violent storm bursts
, Esteban and Zia are terrifying in the hold and they are terribly shake.
Esperanza has to avoid the rocks
and the icebergs.
Finally, after 4 days, the sea becomes quiet and the sun reappears
when Esteban climbs on the top-deck
. The strait is beside them. Mendoza falls asleep but he is acclaimed by the crew.
Pacific is now on the road. Of course, the Mendoza's popularity doesn't fit to Gomez and Perez.
Travel goes on. On the road, they encounter flying-fishes
which are a sign of storm for Mendoza. They arrive at the place where, 12 years before, Mendoza saved Esteban of a drowning
where his father disappeared into the waves.
Then, they begin their climb up to the north, and the capital Lima. Food and water begin to lack and Esteban decides to pick some drinkable water in the cave for Zia in the personal stock of the captain.
Gaspard sees him and locks up the 2 children in the cell of the hold.
Without any sign, a storm begins, wind raises.
