On Friday, January 24th, 2025, as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of TF1 French TV, the channel aired a special prime-time program, Merci Dorothée ! to pay tribute to... Dorothée. Le Club Dorothée, a show broadcast from 1987 to 1997 on TF1, still holds the records in terms of audience and airtime and contributed significantly to the channel's success.
Le Club Dorothée succeeded Récré A2, another show presented by Dorothée and broadcast on Antenne 2 from 1978 to 1987, which introduced Japanese manga and anime to France (this is why France is now the world's second largest market for anime).

And it was precisely on September 28th, 1983, at 4:28 pm, during the Récré A2 show, that Dorothée introduced The Mysterious Cities of Gold series for the first time. You can find a clip of this first appearance in the Videos section of the website.

During the show, a wink (literally, given that the clip lasts only a blink of an eye) is made to the series, as we can briefly see two images from "The Mysterious Cities of Gold" during the sequence dedicated to anime (I had to rewatch the replay in slow motion to be sure I wasn't dreaming).
